Bridging the Gap?
Digital Media Technology and Services in Three African Countries.
This paper will briefly examine if services being consumed by individuals and organizations, and delivered through digital media technologies for personal finance, healthcare and commerce are beginning to bridge the poverty gap between the developed world and three bottom billion countries in Africa. The paper is organized as follows: I will begin with my study objectives and methodology. This is followed by a discussion of findings on the impact of services related to personal finance, healthcare, and commerce. Finally, various initiatives and innovations that may extend the impact of these services will be discussed, as well as initial conclusions.
Video Game Physics Engines – 2010 and Beyond
In this jointly written paper, Matthew Franco, Chelsey Glasson, Shane Sherwood and I examine the history of physics engines in video game play. Additionally, we consider some of the current trends in the use of physics in serious (AAA) video games and hypothesize on the where video game physics will be in the short, medium and long term future. I was specifically responsible for the current trends section of the paper.
Learning and Video Games: The evolving world of Artificial Intelligence
The goal of this paper is to briefly examine Artificial Intelligence [AI] as it has, and is currently being used in video games, and to anticipate some of the ways it may be applied in the future. This paper is not intended explain the technical implementation of AI in video games, but rather provide the casual reader a better understanding of what AI for games is, how it came to be used in video games, and how AI helps enhance game play.
Machine Learning and Video Games: The Evolution of Game AI
Will the U.S. Supreme Court rule to criminalize the sale or rental of violent video games to minors?
In this paper I briefly examine a brief history of the events leading up to the decision by U.S. Supreme Court to consider whether California’s legislation to criminalize the sale or rental of violent video games is constitutional.
